New firmware for Actiontec router

This past week, Verizon released updated firmware for the Actiontec router used with its FiOS Internet and TV service. The new provider greatly improves the router’s user interface. It also addresses known issues with networking over coax (MoCA), thereby improving the reliability and responsiveness of video-on-demand, pay-per-view, and multi-room DVR functionality.

Download the updated firmware below (right-click, save to disk).

Actiontec firmware v4.0.16.1.45.120

Login to your Actiontec router at 192.168.1.1 and choose the update firmware option under the Advanced menu. The firmware update takes approximately five minutes to install and will not affect your current settings.

For past firmware updates, see the firmware update section.

I installed this update because I’ve been having to reboot my ActionTec router every 24-48 hours. After spending a few hours Googling the problem, I found that there are alot of other people experiencing the same issues and I thought the firmware update might help the problem. It didn’t. I still lose internet connectivity every 24-48 hours and a router reboot is the only thing that brings it back.

Is anyone else having this problem? Anyone hear any news about another firmware update that might be coming to address the issue?

    Thanks,
    Norm
